Christmas Eve Eve

Alot of snow in my quaint, little town. To be exact,19 inches. And guess what? We are expecting another 7-12 inches tomorrow morning,on Christmas Eve.
So,today was pretty much the final day to finish that last Christmas shopping...and my family was definitely among the crowd.

It is so icy in fact, that I actually slipped on some and bumped my head in the Best Buy parking lot this afternoon. So,all you readers, watch out for that sly snow and ice.

Tonight will be a wrap-a-thon. And tomorrow will be a clean-a-thon. How will you spend your Christmas Eve Eve and Christmas Eve? Leave a comment!

Snow Day.

So I guess you could say a lot has happened since I have written in here last. Like well me and Janae had a fun sleepover weekend just the two of us! It was loads of fun. Also it's been snowing like crazy here. Wow. I never thought I would hate the snow so much though. I have missed a bunch of things because of it, and so quite frankly i am not very happy that it is still snowing.
Oh well. Me and my mom had some adventures outside yesterday in her attempt to get a good picture of me for a Christmas card...lol...So we walked all around the backyard and even in the front in the street. I was just in a shirt and jeans and it was perfect weather! It wasn't cold out at all. Then my sister Kristin came over and everything changed. I finally started enjoying the snow as we had a snowball with the boys. Even my brother in law who just had his fourth surgery on his shoulder came out! I was shocked! But it was fun as we all threw snowballs at each other. And my aim was so much better then I thought it was, I guess it's been a while since I have thrown a baseball around or had a snowball fight. We also made a snowman in which the boys insisted on calling him frosty. he only lasted a couple of hours and then he fell down. Lol.I guess the snow is always better when you are with family.

Serve-A-Thon...

My church youth group just did a pretty awesome thing where we helped some families that really needed help. We all raised money and then put it in to buying each of the family members presents. They gave us wish lists and we went out and bought what they wanted. So we drove to Fred Meyer’s…Some of my personal friends and I in a van listening to some awesome music. Anyway we ended up shopping like wild monkeys in Fred Meyer’s for a quite a while. Did I mention we were fasting? Oh man…That was something else. I had eaten nothing all day, so I decided to buy myself a green tea, and then drink some of my friends nasty energy drinks. Yuck! Also not a good idea to have a ton of caffeine on an empty stomach. So while we waited to buy the present’s me and some of my friends sat on a bench and laughed and had a mini photo shoot. It was funny. The best part of the whole trip that it wasn’t about any of us. It was about helping out a family in need. I came away learning a lot from this, I think everyone needs to experience our annual serve-a-thon. I’ll be up loading some more pics later when I get them from a friend, but for now….The picture is of two of my favorite people JoJo and Christina. Emily the shorty is missing, but I’ll get one of her up real soon :P

My Adventures With Little Red.

Hey all you fellow readers...

I have realized I have not updated my half of the blog lately...so I wanted to make a quick jump on the Internet before Thanksgiving to post.

Nothing is new with me...unless you count endless school and holiday cleaning new. I did however have a photoshoot for my photography class a couple of days ago...and thought I'd share a couple. Enjoy.

Mountain Dew Run….
Last night I had youth group with the kids from my church, and let me tell you a lot of them showed up. Along with the middle school kids which was fun. I like making them feel like they belong in the group just as much as us High school kids do. We played some intense games like Shuffle your buns, I think was the name of it. Wow that game is dangerous. We set up this huge circle and four people are in the middle and we shuffle our butts to the chair to the right of us, and we have to do it fast before, the people in the middle take our chair. If they take it, then you have to go in the middle and try to find another chair to sit in before someone else does. I almost got tackled by Mitch Stencil, that was scary. I was prepared to shove and bite if it meant getting a chair. I did sit in a couple of people’s laps just to make sure I got a chair. It was fun though. Especially since my friend Christina and Emily and of course me were like running of Mountain Dew. Loads of it. So of course when I get home, I am wound up and can’t hold still. My mom has to rip the mountain dew bottle out of my hands, and of course I end up not sleeping the whole night. That is not to much fun. So I am officially giving up my Mountain Dew addiction. It is going to be hard, but I will survive! Hopefully.

Elections & Biscotti

Yesterday and today were quite interesting. Filled with biscotti and elections, naturally.

I will start this entry by tipping my hat to our new President,Barack Obama. Although I was voting for McCain,I am actually excited Obama won. To see someone like him in my lifetime voted in office makes it that way,I guess. To tell you the truth,I am glad the election is over with. I am tired of those disturbing commercials and newspaper ads. Not to mention the phone calls!

Today,to past time,I made delicious gingerbread biscotti. Now,for those who don't know what biscotti is,it is a crisp Italian cookie. I buy them everytime I visit my local coffee shop, and dipping them in your traditional hot cocoa or premium roast coffee is amazing. So go out and try one! Here is the recipe:

Gingerbread Biscotti

1/2 cup butter,softened

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 firmly packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground ginger

3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 eggs

3 tablespoons molasses

2-1/2 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

Heat oven to 350. Combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in a large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Add eggs;continue beating until well mixed. Add molasses; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour and baking powder. Beat until well mixed.

Divide dough in half. Shape each half into 14-inch long log with floured hands. Place logs 5 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each log to 2-inch width. Bake for 25 minutes or until set. Cool on cookie sheet 15 minutes.Reduce oven temperature to 300°F. Cut logs diagonally into 1/2-inch slices with serrated knife. Place onto cookie sheet, cut-side down. Bake for 10 minutes. Turn slices; continue baking for 12 to 15 minutes or until dry and crisp. Cool completely.

Place candy coating into small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, and stir until well melted and smooth. Stir in cinnamon.

Place cookies onto wax paper; drizzle candy coating. Let set room temprature until coating is firm.
Happy Baking and Belated Election day to you all!
Janae.
P.S Leave a comment on how your election day was!

Sick and In Bed...

So, I think the title says it all. I’m not sure how I wound up getting sick? Anyway so here I sit on my bed, discussing blog with Janae and listening to some music on YouTube.Speaking of which. Have any of you heard of the singer Lenka?! I just found out about her a while ago and fell in love with her song “The Show” it is amazing. In fact you should go to YouTube and watch the music video it is pretty funny. I see she is going to be in Portland on the 14th and then in Seattle WA on the 15th.I might just have to take a trip out to see her concert. Also, I totally envy her dress she is wearing on her website.I would wear that in a heart beat! Happy Belated Halloween!

Happy Belated Halloween! To all who are having trick or treating sugar-overloaded hangovers.
Ah,maybe it wasn't so bad for you. All I know is...after taking my nephew and friend Danielle candy hunting, collecting 2 pounds of candy, and watching scary movies until 3 AM, I am swamped with sleepiness. Here is the percentage of what is in my candy stash:

87 % Assortment of chocolate bars

20 % Fruity candy

3 % Stuff I don't like

Usually, there is more than 3 percent of candy I hate in previous years. But,this year I think I scored. Kudo's to the lady dressed as Lucy giving out King Sized Milky Way's!

How was your Halloween night? I want to hear from you. Leave a comment!

High School Musical 3

So the title says it all really. Last night at 4:00 I had an outing with two of my good friends Christina and Alayna. So we saw High School Musical 3 Senior Year. I have to admit that we all three went into it thinking 'This movie is going to be the dumbest thing on earth!'. I being totally against the other two High School Musical movies was actually shocked. This one was actually really good! I'm not saying it was the best movie ever, but honestly the music was so much better and the story lone was good. Alayna, Christina and I were highly entertained threw the whole movie. The dancing and singing were really good. We all three walked out of the movie wanting to dance and sing at the top of our lungs. We did get the chance to do just that in the car on the way home, with the windows unrolled and the music blaring. I would go and see it, but make sure to have an open mind, don't judge it just cause the first and second were stupid. I guess though that you have to see it with the right people. I would encourage seeing it with these two types of people. The bubbly, energetic, cheerful Alayna, and the spunky, smart, and motherly Christina. I think we all need people like them in our lives.

Stesha~

P.S. My favorite song was probably "The Boys are Back!", but you have to see it in the movie to know why, don't just go and listen to it online. Get out of the chair you are sitting in and go see the movie! : D

Halloween Festivities

Alot has happened since I last posted (which,I discovered I am doing it the most; fishy, huh?). Mostly,I have been working on my family's annual Halloween party. It occured last night, and now is over,I am sad to say. But,it was a blast. Top five reasons....

1) Dad in gorilla suit, lurking in the woods, while scaring teenage girls=priceless.
2) The punch could have been mistaken as addicting crack. Or giggle juice. Take your pick.
3) Watching a drive-in scary movie with a bonfire under the stars.
4) Seeing everyones Mummy wrap expertise.
5) Watching everyone dance the "Time Warp".

I can simply say that, there was a good mixture of laughter and screaming. And,on another note,my parents out did themselves. This year was amazing.

Our guests came as the following:

Samanatha- Little Red Riding Hood
Danielle- Little Bo Peep
Kayla- Hobo
Makayla- Hermione Granger
Emilee- Little Miss Muffett
Meghan- Victorian noblewoman
And me (Janae)- Mother Goose

If you can discover how we all fit together, comment it. I want to hear what you think.

Spend a weekend at the Oregon Coast.

Need a relaxing weekend? Spend it at the Oregon Coast!
Okay,I promise that I did not start a post to advertise vacations. It is Monday,3 days since anyone has posted.
My sisters,nephew,brother-in-law,and I drove to Netarts,Oregon to visit my grandmother before she leaves on her cruise. In that period of time, coffee and cocoa was dranken, splashing in the 20 degree ocean water happened, and even discovering the witty board game "Balderdash" was played.
If you have not tried out Balderdash,I will not advise you to shoot yourself in the foot because as of Saturday,I had not heard of it. It is almost like Apples To Apples, but to me it is 10 times better. All I can say is,Google it.
Back to reality though. School,eat,homework,school,sleep,repeat.......
